Last week we had the holy terror/hardcore band Lay VVaste at the Vans boutique to leave their mark on the board. We had a chance to sit down with them and ask them a few questions.

Who are you?
J:I’m John Von Donnelly and I play guitar.
G: I’m Greg, vocals and we’re Lay VVaste. This band came together due to boredom and the lack of good hardcore bands in his city.

What differentiates Lay VVaste from past bands you’ve been in/been a part of?
J:For myself LVV has been different when it comes to the writing process, we don’t follow any formula’s.  I’m not too concerned with what is expected for a hardcore songs. Also, I’ve usually strived for a clean sound in the past,  now i want it to be dirty… the dirtier the better.
G:This band is more straight forward HC with a metal tinge. A lot different then previous bands i’ve been, which were predominantly mosh metal. Just good friends playing some good tunes.

Whats the craziest thing thats happened to the band?
J: I don’t even know where to begin. Last weekend we found 200$ worth of coke.  Once we played Ottawa and got into a high speed car chase in front of a school and police station.  We were split into two cars, racing at 170 Km/hr, when I almost flipped the car over. The other guys where chased by cops and when we finally caught up to them, one of them had a gun to the face with a cop yelling at him.  We thought half of us where going to jail that night, but nothing ended up happening.

Any upcoming project/plans for LVV?
G: In the studio right now recording a couple new songs for a 7″ or possibly a 12″ with the previous recordings. As far as shows..  nothing booked at the moment but we’re always up to play basements or stadiums.
